Praise & Worship To The Creator
By: Curt & Sheila

Do you know why you were created? Was it to witness to others, or to preach, or to bandage people’s wounds, or fix people’s problems? If you think about it, the very first people who were created by God, Adam and Eve, really didn’t have anyone to witness to, preach to, or to fix. But they were created to fellowship with God and to praise and worship Him. So ultimately, I believe that is why we were created – to worship our God, and to fellowship with Him! Everything else we do, springs forth from that. We are all created with many different talents. Some of us can sing, some of us can learn musical instruments, some of us can dance, some of us can shout real loud, some of us can clap, some of us can smile, some of us can bow down low and others can jump real high. But whoever we are, each of us has some unique and special way that we can worship our creator. If we do not worship Him, as we were created to, our lives will just not be right because the cornerstone which holds us together will be missing.
One thing which attracted me to my husband when I first met him was how he loved to praise the Lord. He was and is like a modern day “King David” who loves to dance before the Lord and is not ashamed of his great love for Jesus. It is contagious and I know that my children have “caught” some of this as well. My little girls are 4 years and 1 ½ years, and their day is not complete until I turn on the praise and worship music and let them dance and sing. Even my 5 month old son loves it. I can learn so much from watching them!! I need to put away all my agendas—dishes, cleaning the house, baths, laundry, etc; and dance and worship Yeshua with my little children every day. Then my day would be right side up instead of upside down. That’s possibly the main thing we’ll be doing for all of eternity in heaven, right? So it surely must be important.
Praise and Worship should be an automatic response for the True Believer in Christ Jesus! There should be no resistance between God and man, if a true relationship really exists between the two. This true relationship will create an attraction between God and man and the creation should have no problem submitting to his Creator. There should be an apparent, clear reason for man to want to celebrate, boast and rave about His Risen Savior.
Praise means, to be clear; to boast; to rave; to celebrate; to shine; to be foolish. Praise is a time of plowing and preparing. To praise, is to open up our hearts, much like a plow opens up the ground. It was God who formed man out of the dust of the ground; therefore our hearts are like the soil.
As we engage in praise, we are actually cultivating our hearts, by breaking up any of the hard places that might have become defiled by the world. In essence, we are preparing our hearts for His love to come in a greater measure. Just as a plow breaks up the soil of the earth in preparation to sow seed, by praising, we are breaking up the soil of our hearts, in preparation for His love to come in. A farmer does not plow open the ground one time and then expect to plant the seed. Instead, he must work up the ground several times, in order to break up the large clods to prepare the best seedbed for planting. It is the continuous praise that best prepares the conditions of our heart. And it’s the continuous breaking up of our hearts that will produce the best seed bed for His Presence.
That’s why the Word of God commands us to clap our hands, dance, sing and shout over and over again. These are the actions that prepare our hearts, much like the farm implements prepare the soil, over and over again. Once the seed bed is finished, the seed is then ready to be sown.
So, as Christians transition from true praise to true worship, the seed bed of the heart is prepared for God’s love to be received or sown into. Worship means, to depress; to bow down; to be prostrate; to crouch; to reverence; to stoop. Worship is a time of sowing and receiving. To worship the Lord, in essence, is to receive in our hearts the fullness of His love. And His love is then sown into our hearts, much like the soil receives the seed. As we engage in worship we are actually allowing God’s love or His presence to come into the prepared seedbed of our hearts. We receive best as we are pressed down, humble and reverent.
As we close, we challenge everyone who engages in praise and worship, to lift up their arms as a funnel toward Heaven and to thank Jesus for what He has already done on your behalf. You’ll be surprised to find out just how many wonderful blessings await the True Worshipper. Receive all that He has for you today by opening up your hearts in worship and allow God’s love to grow in you.
